Hole Montes has provided engineering services to the Port of the Islands (POI) Community Improvement District (CID) for their water and wastewater utility on an on-going basis since 1990. The firm designed the new 320 GPM (460,000 gallon per day) R.O. Water Treatment Plant at Port of the Islands. The raw water has high hardness as well as high levels of naturally occurring organic matter. The concentrate from this facility is blended with reclaimed water from the wastewater treatment facility along with untreated well water and used for irrigation of residential lawns and public medians. This project also included a total redevelopment of a 5-acre site including stormwater management for the water and wastewater treatment plants as well as a future community building and parking.
