Highlands County prepared the Lake Istokpoga Canal Maintenance Dredging Evaluation Report. This plan is a multi -phased project funded by the SFWMD for the purpose of evaluating seventeen (17) residential canals for con-taminants of con-cern associated with the canal sediments, quan-tifying the volume of the sediments to be removed, and determining the mass of phosphorous that would be removed from the canals by dredging.

Upon obtaining grant funding, Hole Montes prepared bidding documents to provide all labor, materials and equipment to dredge approximately 20,000 cubic yards of sediments from seventeen (17) residential canals and to construct containment areas on sites approved by Highlands County for disposal of the sediments.

A successful bid was received and a Contractor was selected in March 2011 based upon review and recommendation to award by Hole Montes. Construction on the project was completed in October, 2011. Hole Montes also provided construction administration services including dredging sediment removal observation, containment areas construction and restoration, record data review, Contractor coordination, review of Contractor pay requests, grant funding technical assistance, and construction engineering.
