Germain Arena

Estero, Lee County, Florida

Hole Montes, Inc. was chosen to perform the civil engineering, survey and mapping services for the Germain Arena project. The arena is located on a 30-acre parcel, adjacent to Ben Hill Griffin Drive, formerly Treeline Avenue, and extends to I-75 on the west.

The 65-foot covered sports and recreational arena is a multi-faceted structure that offers a seating capacity of more than 7,500. Although the main purpose of the arena is to host games and practices for the Florida Everblades Ice Hockey team, other events and concerts are frequently held in the facility. Hole Montes was responsible for the Required rezoning and DRI amendment; Water Management District modification to existing permit; Intense coordination with the out-of-town Architectural firm concerning key design features such as structural column location and utility service locations and specifically the arena’s unique ice-making equipment; Close coordination with Architect and Planner for pedestrian access and safe circulation; Parking and Traffic Control for large attendance events including turfed overflow parking; Extensive regional water and sewer utility system extensions.

The project was fast-tracked to facilitate first home game for 1998-99 Everblades’ inaugural season.
