Marco Island Charter Middle School

Hole Montes, Inc. partnered with BRPH Architects-Engineers, Inc. and W.G. Mills, Inc. on this project that replaced the existing middle school campus, consisting of twenty-five portable classrooms connected by a network of covered walkways, with a permanent classroom and administration building and a new gymnasium/arts building. Construction took place while school was in session during the 06-07 school year and through the efforts of the team, the transition into the new facilities for the 07-08 school year was successfully completed.

The new campus serves 528 students, 20 faculty members, and 15 other staff members. The project included a new 71-space parking lot, sidewalk improvements, and relocation/construction of outdoor sports fields and courts. Construction commenced in June 2006 and finished in August 2007.

Hole Montes was responsible for the site and landscape design and permitting for the 11.63-acre project, which shares a 21.18-acre site with the Tommie Barfield Elementary School. The firm also provided value engineering to ensure an on-budget project and performed Construction Administration Services for the school.

In 2008, Southeast Construction magazine named the Marco Island Charter Middle School on Marco Island, Florida as its Best Public Design. The design team for this project was BRPH Architects and Hole Montes, Inc.
